I made the appointment with this NP because she looks like me. It seems challenging to find doctors who look like me in Atrium's OB/GYN space. I hope this changes to be more competitive. If Duke Health was in Charlotte, I'd choose them 10 out of 10 times because there are many options in black OB/GYNs. They are much more diverse.
Amazing and caring staff!
I actually had a really bad experience this time which is a 1st for me here. I have to drive about 1.5 hrs to my appt and I arrived 10-11 minutes late due to traffic and the parking deck. I waited in line several minutes once I got there and when it was my turn I was told Dr Matkins who I had my appt scheduled with had already left and there was no one who could see me. At this point I was 14 minutes late when they told me this. I had to speak to office manager and then beg for her to finally say I could be seen by nurse practitioner. There is no reason my provider should have left before my appt would have been over. 10 minutes is not a valid grace period and if a patient arrives within 15 or even 20 minutes they should accommodate. Provider should not have left! Not sure I'll be back, although I did like the provider I ended up seeing just fine.
