I am a provider within the Atrium system and have always had both my own and children's care with Atrium physicians, having many positive experiences. However, I feel both the encounter and the evaluation that I received after presenting to Atrium Health GI for new gastrointestinal complaints was suboptimal and incomplete. After providing a fairly thorough history during my encounter, no clarifying questions were asked. I offered photos of my change in stools, which were not reviewed. Most concerning, a physical exam was not performed by the provider. I understand that a provider's approach to patients concerns can vary, however, I would expect any patient to receive a more comprehensive evaluation than that which was performed.
Not the provider's fault- but, this appointment to discuss doing an endoscopy at the same time as a colonoscopy seemed unnecessary. We could have had this conversation over the phone or through portal messages. It seemed to be a waste of money and time. The system should rethink the necessity of this type of consultation appointment (perhaps depending on symptoms and medical history) and make some changes.
She was trying to advise me with my problem and was clear and helpful. Yes, I would recommend her and she answered my questions.
It was a waste of my time. If they had read my file they could have sent me to the ultrasound facility first to gather the information to discuss my spleen. I waited 3 months for a less than 5 minute visit
